Mariona Boronat Vicente was born in Barcelona (Spain), on the 2nd of December 1993. She studied Chemistry at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), where she received her degree in June 2016, a year after her incorporation to the Group of Sensors and Biosensors (GSB). During her degree final project and her Master Thesis, she worked in the development of aliquoting structures for centrifugal microfluidic platforms in collaboration with Natàlia Sández and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Julián Alonso.
Since September 2017, she is a PhD candidate at the Group of Sensors and Biosensors under the supervision of Dr. Mª del Mar Puyol. The aim of his project is to design a platform capable to detect electrochemically emerging and priority pollutants from water using magnetic nanoparticles as nanosorbents.
